3-D Stenciling    (raised plaster)                                  See our extensive collection of motifs

Create beautiful effects on walls, furniture and ceilings!  Using regular wall plaster or popular decorative paste that you can find in your favorite art store, spread a thin layer right over the stencil openings.  Remove stencil carefully and the design is produced as a raised effect.  Allow to dry for several hours, then paint or stain!  The texture that comes through using the plaster creates a realistic 3-dimensional look to your design.   One of the more popular choices is tone on tone. But note how the colors on the box on the left create a distinctive look also. Color choices are all across the board!  If you make a mistake, you simple take a small tool or a flat knife and lift off any plaster or paste before it dries.

We used #1104 Leafy Background for the look on this inexpensive, cardboard tissue box.  After allowing the decorative paste to dry, we painted the box with yellow ochre, then brushed over the leaves with green.  After the paint dried, we brushed a sienna colored glaze over the entire piece, and wiped off with a cloth.  The glaze grabbed onto the edges of the plaster, creating the deeper color.

Our Bamboo stencil is a good choice for Raised Plaster!  This was applied to a textured wall, then glazed over.  Tone on tone colors give a striking and sophisticated, yet romantic look.
